What is a wall ball?

A wall ball is a weighted fitness ball with a soft outer shell, typically filled with rubber granules and polyester fibre, designed for throwing exercises. It is larger than a slam ball, has a slight bounce, and is built to absorb impact when thrown against a wall.

What is the difference between a slam ball and a wall ball?

A wall ball is designed to be thrown against a wall and caught. It is also has a softer outer shell and has slight bounce. A slam ball, on the other hand, is made for high-impact slams and has no bounce (dead bounce) when you throw on the floor. Use wall balls when you want to focus more on coordination and endurance, while you can use slam balls if you want to build power and explosive movements.

What are wall balls good for?

Wall balls are highly effective fitness balls for full-body workouts, cardio exercises, building functional strength and enhancing body coordination and timing. For some athletes, they also use wall balls to burn calories and reduce body fat by working with high-intense throws.

Is wall ball better for functional training?

Wall balls are highly effective for functional training because they follow real-life movement patterns specially if you are performing squatting, lifting, and throwing. This fitness ball is very effective when you are building strength, coordination, and endurance all at once. You can also add wall balls on Crossfit style and Hyrox style workouts as they combine full-body movement with cardio, help improve overall performance, conditioning, and work capacity.

What exercises can you do with wall balls?

With wall balls, you can do a wide range of full-body, strength, and conditioning exercises, including wall ball shots, wall throws, squats with a wall ball, sit-ups with a throw, partner passes, and Russian twists. You can use a wall ball for medicine ball workouts too, such as performing slams and chest passes, but not for exercises that require a higher bounce of the fitness ball, like basketball drills or high-bounce plyometric exercises.
