What is a Pilates ring?

Pilates ring, also known as Pilates circles or Magic circle, is a flexible ring with padded handles on the side that provides gentle, targeted resistance when compressed. You can compress the ring between your hands, thighs, or ankles to engage your stabilising muscles, including the inner thighs, arms, chest, and core muscles. This fitness ring is versatile; you can use it in standing, seated, or lying down positions.

What exercises can I perform with a Pilates circle?

You can place the Pilates circle between your inner thighs during glute bridges, you can also squeeze it between your hands when doing abdominal curls to engage your chest and core muscles, or you can also place it around your outer ankles to target the glutes and hips during side-lying exercise.

Is a Pilates ring suitable for beginners?

Pilates ring are suitable even for beginners as it only provides low resistance. The more you squeeze the ring, the more resistance you get. So that's why this is very effective as an additional resistance tool for other low-impact workouts or for your Pilates sessions.

Can I use the Pilates circle for stretching?

You can also use a Pilates ring like a yoga strap to assist with flexibility and stretches. You can use it for warm-ups or stretches, such as hamstring press, single leg stretch, or double leg stretch.

How do I clean and store my Pilates ring?

Wipe down the foam handles and the ring with a soft cloth dampened with water and a tiny drop of mild soap after your practice. Allow it to air dry naturally. Thanks to its lightweight and flat surface, you can easily store it on a shelf, in a drawer, or tucked flat next to your mat.

Can a Pilates ring help build muscle?

Yes, but not like heavy weights that build bulky muscle mass. Pilates ring uses continous resistance to tone muscles and strengthen your core. It forces your stabilising muscles including your inner thighs, pelvic floor and deep core to work under tension. This results into more sculpted muscles, improve definition and greater functional strength.

What are the benefits of using a Pilates ring?

Pilates ring or circles can help engage deeper stabilising muscles, correct your postural alignment, and tone muscles. You can also easily isolate hard-to-reach areas, such as the inner thighs, chest, and back of the arms.
