What are slam balls?

Slam balls are weighted fitness balls designed for high-impact workouts, specifically for overhead slams and throws. They feature a highly durable outer shell that absorbs impact and a dead-weight filling made or either sand or metal particles which prevents them from bouncing back (dead-bounce) after striking the ground.

What is a slam ball good for?

A slam ball is best for workouts to improve core strength, endurance, full-body conditioning and explosive power. Because of its dead-weight design, it forces you to work harder and forces multiple muscles groups to perform resulting to massive functional strength gains.

Is slam balls and medicine balls the same? How they differ?

No, slam balls are weighted balls designed to not bounce, making them ideal for intense workouts and high-impact exercises, including slams. While medicine balls have some rebound and are used for controlled exercises like throws and partner drills. The medicine ball's outer shell is not as durable as the slam balls.

What exercises can I do with a slam ball?

A slam ball is incredibly versatile equipment that allows training for multiple workouts, including overhead slams, over-the-shoulder throws, overhead presses, goblet squats, Russian twists, slam ball burpees and many more slam ball workouts.

What weight of slam ball should I choose?

If you are a beginner, start with 4–8 kg slam balls; for intermediate, 8–15 kg slam balls; and for athletes and fitness enthusiasts, you can move to 15–30+ kg slam balls. Choose a weight that allows explosive movement without compromising your form.

Can I use a slam ball like a medicine ball?

Yes, you can use slam balls for most medicine ball movements, but don't expect them to bounce. If you are doing wall balls and quick partner passes, a regular medicine ball would be better. However, for anything that involves holding, pressing, or carrying, like goblet squats, lunges, or Russian twists, slam balls can be a substitute for medicine balls.
