Why do I need gym floor mats?

Can you train without gym floor mats? Yes, but using gym flooring helps to prevent damage to your gym floors, reduce noise and vibration during your drops or workouts and improve safety, especially if you are dropping weights.

Are these gym floor mats suitable for heavy lifting?

For the heavy lifting like deadlifts, heavy squats, and dropping dumbbells, choose ECO rubber gym floor mats, as these mats provide heavy-duty shock absorption.

What are gym floor mats made of?

Northern gym floor mats are built from materials chosen specifically for the job they have to do. For the heavy lifting and high-impact areas, choose ECO gym floor mats. For mobility work and floor finishers, our interlocking mats use premium EVA foam designed for comfort and joint support. Our yoga and Pilates mats are made of high-density soft foam for superior comfort during stretches and yoga flows.

What types of gym flooring are available?

Northern has a variety of gym flooring options designed to survive your heaviest sessions. Our range includes rubber flooring, interlocking tile mats, foam exercise mats, soft foam yoga mats, folding exercise mats and ECO floor mats. Whether you're slamming weights or hitting a mobility flow, we provide the floor protection and the grip you need to stay focused on the work.

Which type of gym flooring is best for my training style?

If you’re performing with heavy barbells and dumbbells, high-density ECO rubber is the perfect protection for your floors, and it won't compress even under heavy load. For cardio, HIIT, or bodyweight work, an interlocking floor mat is best because it stays locked together during lateral movements. But if you are just performing yoga or floor finishers, a dedicated foam exercise workout mat is better.

Are these gym floor mats slip-resistant?

Northern gym floor mats are designed with a high-grip surface to keep you firmly stable, even during sweaty sessions. Whether you are using our heavy-duty ECO rubber floor mats or interlocking tile mats, both of these mats provide a solid, non-slip surface.
